I love wearing traditional outfits with a twist, especially professional clothing. A typical white button down with tailored pants can take many forms.

I had yet than another interview today, and I'm starting to realize that the experience I'm getting from each one is helping me become a better interviewee. My nerves have subsided until about the time I walk through the door now-I've come along way from being so nervous I can't sleep the night before. It's always nice to break up the week and do something unexpected as not to fall into a monotonous pattern, so after my interview I walked around Georgetown for a few hours and bought an army inspired top from Zara (yes, only one item, I was being good today) that I will post later in the week. Happy Hump Day!

Food 4 Thought:Ben's Chili

Photobucket
Striped textured dress & heels (not shown): F21

Let's face it, every once and a while you crave some cheesy, greasy, carb filled slop, and allow yourself a measly taste only because your daily diet consists of rabbit food. After our Saturday night fever nothing hit the spot better than a late night (early morning?) snack of chili-cheese fries at Ben's Chili Bowl. Though the menu consists of much more than chili, I'll never understand the logic behind ordering anything other than the food listed in the restaurant title. Isn't that supposed to be the prized chow that people come from far and wide to eat? I can only speak on what I've had, but if his famous chili sparks my buds I can only imagine what other yummy eats the menu has to offer. If ever at 12th & U st. NW Ben's is a must. What could be better than a little history and an all american chili dog?

To Market, To Market

This is the first batch of pictures from my very eventful weekend...there was so much shopping and eating out I'm definitely satisfied for a good while (maybe a week ? hehe). We started off at Eastern Market...caught the metro to Pentagon City, and topped off the night at Bar 7. Needless to say my friend had an unforgettable weekend. 2 words: Pure Craziness!

Can you believe it's been a year since MJ's death? I thought these pictures of Agyness Deyn channelling the King of Pop were the perfect way to pay tribute to such a legend. RIP.

Sway

Photobucket

I've come across, what I think, is one of the most inventive ideas for a website in a loooong time, and because I always visualize what I want in an article of clothing but can never find it, it's beyond perfect! Sway.com is where fashionistas with no experience with a needle and thread (like myself) can design the clothes they desire online without the prick of a finger. The garment with the most votes will be made and sold to members (for a discounted price) and non-members daily. Check out the site and the video below for a sneak peak!

Food 4 Thought: The Alchemist

Photobucket

I don't post about food too often, but I probably should considering I love to eat. Since my Aunt Carla's time on Top Chef almost 2 years ago she has taken off running, and is still at that steady stride. She's been in the works of edible bliss with her new cookie collection, and because I have personally had well more than my share, I can speak on how mouthwatering these little nibbles are. The collection includes sweet and savory bites of oatmeal with cranberries and chocolate chip, chocolate chip, and pecan shortbread with vanilla salt(my personal favorite), just to name a few. If in the D.C. area these tins are available at Mount Rainer farmers market on Saturdays and at Moorenko's Ice Cream Cafe in Silver Spring, MD.

The Washington Post did an article on the Alchemy Cookie Collection today, check it out here or Carla Hall's website: Alchemy Caterers.

While writing this post I realized I never posted pictures from my own graduation! My brother graduated from high school yesterday and will be attending UMD in the fall. As if graduating from college didn't make me feel old enough, attending my brothers made it that much more real. Congratulations Class of 2010!

Career Chic:Semi Casual

Cardigan:Anthropologie; blouse:H&M; tank:old; skirt:old; belt:old; heels:Nine West; watch:F21

Since a lot of my time is spent job hunting, and soon enough will be spent working (hopefully), I will be posting some professional looks more often. I wore this to my second interview with a company yesterday. Not very traditional, but I was told to dress more casual, and this was my version.

Sweet Success

Photobucket
High waisted denim shorts:UO

Ahhh sweet, sweet success. Don't you love the feeling of finding the perfect something you've been envisioning in your head for months and months, just stumble upon it so unexpectedly that you gasp and run to it as if your life depends on it? Yes, that was my experience in UO today. I had been yearning for some high waisted denim Levi's for who knows how long, and there they were, just my luck :-).

A Day in the Life

Photobucket
LBD:F21; Ruffled tunic:Anthropologie

I feel like I'm back at school. . . Instead classes, my days consist of driving to one side of the world and back again giving interviews, and no schoolwork or studying, but evenings devoted to application upon application for various jobs. Woe is me, the life of a twenty something month old grad searching for a job to use her skills and knowledge learned from the thousands of dollars spent on higher education in this economy-what mouth full (or is it an ear full if you're reading?). Anyway, I find that shopping eases the stress. I had a few hours between interviews and stopped for a quick shopping trip. I know...why am I spending money with no job...It's a problem and I'm working on it, o'kay?

Out of Time

Photobucket

I meant to put this post up last night but I was meeting some friends downtown and was running late, and blah blah blah, you know the drill. I had every intention of strictly window shopping before seeing SATC 2 on Saturday, but that obviously didn't go as well as planned. UO was having a sale and I just couldn't resist. This jacket was on sale from $60 down to $20!! Good buy right? I thought so too :-). I probably won't be able to wear it as much as I'd like to until the fall but I figured if it was cool enough on a chilly summer night I'd break it out (yes this was how I talked myself into spending even more money on my wardrobe).

From a clothing standpoint, I thought SATC 2 held up to it's grand reputation of jaw dropping fashion. I enjoyed the first one a tad bit more, but there's not much bad I can say, I'm a fan!
