This weekend didn't go quite as planned...It rained Saturday, meaning no strolling around DC, and my friend Chanel surprised me for her birthday (I know, a little backwards)! Needless to say an itinerary was made and it was just like old times. She had a great time bringing in her 22nd year, and we had another successful night out on the town.

I finally ordered the Addison wedges from Topshop and am impatiently awaiting their arrival. I've even started piecing together outfits to wear with them. I can't wait!!!

Food 4 Thought:Ben's Chili

Photobucket
Striped textured dress & heels (not shown): F21

Let's face it, every once and a while you crave some cheesy, greasy, carb filled slop, and allow yourself a measly taste only because your daily diet consists of rabbit food. After our Saturday night fever nothing hit the spot better than a late night (early morning?) snack of chili-cheese fries at Ben's Chili Bowl. Though the menu consists of much more than chili, I'll never understand the logic behind ordering anything other than the food listed in the restaurant title. Isn't that supposed to be the prized chow that people come from far and wide to eat? I can only speak on what I've had, but if his famous chili sparks my buds I can only imagine what other yummy eats the menu has to offer. If ever at 12th & U st. NW Ben's is a must. What could be better than a little history and an all american chili dog?

A Day in the Life

Photobucket
LBD:F21; Ruffled tunic:Anthropologie

I feel like I'm back at school. . . Instead classes, my days consist of driving to one side of the world and back again giving interviews, and no schoolwork or studying, but evenings devoted to application upon application for various jobs. Woe is me, the life of a twenty something month old grad searching for a job to use her skills and knowledge learned from the thousands of dollars spent on higher education in this economy-what mouth full (or is it an ear full if you're reading?). Anyway, I find that shopping eases the stress. I had a few hours between interviews and stopped for a quick shopping trip. I know...why am I spending money with no job...It's a problem and I'm working on it, o'kay?

Carla Hall on the Today Show

Polka dot dress: F21; Denim Jacket: Old; Brown Oxfords: JC Penney

I've spent time in New York as a typical tourist, a shopaholic, and a crazed party girl but it wasn't until I ventured there with my Aunt, Carla Hall (Chef & Finalist from Top Chef NYC), to experience what food really had to offer me in the city. I accompanied her to film a segment for the Today Show where she demo'd recipes on using common pantry items to create some tasty treats. In case you missed the segment with Kathie Lee & Hoda Friday morning, it is posted above. I'll do another post on our shopping excursions when I get back from lunch with some old friends. Have a great weekend!

It's been months since my friends and I have had a Sunday dinner. What used to be a weekly tradition has turned into a rare holiday type of occasion, but this week is a call for celebration because I'm welcoming my friend Dani to the blogging world! After months of nagging and convincing, I was glad to find that my efforts hadn't gone unnoticed. Her constant supply of delicious home cooked meals is what most college students dream of, especially considering the cafeteria food on campus (yuck!), so why not blog about it? This tomato basil pasta dish with the side roasted asparagus still has my mouth watering. Check out her blog, The Tip of Your Tongue, for this recipe and many more to come. Happy Sunday!

Black Cards, Black Cars, All Black Everything

Dress: Zara one shoulder leather mini dress; Shoes: Steve Madden lace up booties

I went to a black party over the weekend and had one of the best nights of my life! I love not so boring little black dresses. Forgive my lack of recent posts, school is a kicker, but not to fret, next week begins winter break and my life (and blogging) will start again!
